The Cabrito Serif Typeface.
The Cabrito typeface is a serif font family based on Jeremy Dooley‘s latest research on typographic legibility for children. His studies have shown that Bookman Old Style is one of the most legible typefaces and that’s why it’s often used for children’s books. Therefore it’s not surprising that Jeremy Dooley took his initial inspiration from this well readable typeface. He combined these properties with a large x-height and softer, easily recognizable shapes, which are closer to handwriting. Cabrito offers some typographic features that can be accessed in any OpenType-enabled software. The wide range of OpenType features include numerous alternates, ligatures, old style figures, swashes and swash alternates, as well as ball terminals and alternate titling caps. Cabrito’s character set supports multiple languages. This warm and pleasant serif font family is a great choice for any child-friendly typography such as toys, food packaging, and of course children’s books.
