FF Dax, a modern but also elegant type family from foundry FontFont.

FontFont is a Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany based foundry (founded by Erik Spiekermann and Neville Brody) that offers professional typefaces for designers, which also applies in particular to the FF Dax type family. Hans Reichel, a German type designer worked on this typeface from 1995-1997. His goal was to develop a modern but also elegant type family that can be used for a wide range of applications such as advertising, packaging design, book texts, editorial and publishing, logos, branding, posters and billboards, wayfinding systems, signage, and also web design.

The result is an extensive font family consisting of 36 weights plus italics, ranging from Light to Black in condensed, normal, and wide. The family supports highest professional standards with typographic features such as ligatures, small capitals, alternate characters, case-sensitive forms, fractions as well as super- and subscript characters. A set of figure options (oldstyle and lining figures) are available in both tabular and proportional widths. In addition to all common Latin-based languages, the font family also supports Cyrillic and Greek letters.

In 1998, the typeface received The Big Crit award. The complete FF Dax super family also includes FF Dax Compact and FF Daxline.
