Jules font family, a 2015 release of a Didonic display type system from DSType foundry.
The Jules font family has been designed by Dino dos Santos and Pedro Leal for foundry DSType in 2015. It’s a Didonic variation with plenty of extraordinary features and a very special touch. This elegant display font has been designed for extremely big sizes. Its elegant look refers to classic serif font designs from the late 18th century. Jules’ characteristic forms are heavily inspired by the beautiful work of portuguese calligrapher, Antonio Jacintho de Araujo.
The Jules font family comes with three different optical sizes (Big, Colossal, Epic) plus diverse alternative versions, ligatures, matching Italics, and a special Swashes version with an even more elegant style. As already mentioned, the Jules font family works best for large display sizes. The type designers, Dino dos Santos and Pedro Leal recommend to choose ‘Jules Big’ for 48pt sizes or higher, ‘Colossal’ for 72pt sizes or higher, and ‘Epic’ for 96pt sizes and higher. You can use it for striking headlines on signage, posters, or billboards. These elegant typeface gives your design a classic vintage touch. Jules can also be a great choice for large titles in web design applications. Therefor, the family is available as both conventional desktop font and webfont.
