Averta, a font family by Kostas Bartsokas that brings together features from early European grotesques and American gothics.
Type designer Kostas Bartsokas of foundry ‘Intelligent Design’ has created the Averta font family in 2015.
The name comes from the Greek word ‘αβέρτα’ and means to act or speak openly, bluntly or without moderation, without hiding something. This clear openness is the main principle of this new geometric sans serif type family. Averta’s geometric rounds and open apertures as well as its low contrast strokes result in a straightforward and friendly typeface. This clarity makes it a great typeface for a variety of applications. Averta’s central weights (Light to Bold) perform very well at text sizes, while the thin or black versions are a great choice for headlines. In total, the Averta font family is equipped with 8 weights plus true italics that add a dynamic touch to the whole family.
Averta includes an extended character set for multi language support (over 200 languages with a Latin, Greek, and Vietnamese character set) as well as a range of OpenType features such as small caps, fractions, alternate glyphs, case sensitive forms, contextual alternates, oldstyle and lining (proportional and tabular) numerals, small cap numerals, numerators/denominators, superiors/inferiors, and countless symbols.
